It has been a while since I last updated my blog. During these 2 weeks after confinement, I have been bringing my mother out for lunch and shopping. We share the same passion – to hunt for good bargains and try out different authentic favors of Chinese food here.
My mother is a graceful lady of tasteful dress sense. At age 62, she still looks well-maintained. Even my ayi has been commenting that she dresses better than me! ;o
Since young, my mother had been taking good care of me. She worked hard for the family and always cooked nutritious meals for the family. She taught me about family morals, money values and the importance for a woman to have her own career and be financially independent.
When I was young, I had negative feelings towards the family. I hated the family conflicts and quarrels, and the struggles over money. Now that I’m a mother of two, I started to understand the difficulties that she has gone through and the sacrifices that a mother will do for her children.
At times, I feel guilty that I’m not by her side during these few years to take care of her.
Yet circumstances have made me choose this decision, so as to provide better lives for my parents and they can retire happily.
Meanwhile, I shall let her enjoy her last two weeks of holidays here playing with the two grandchildren.
