LeLe was down with a fever since friday.
We let him eat the medicine from Singapore, but it does not work at all. The next day, temperature shoots up to 40.2 degrees!
Bernard brought him to Amcare, the hospital which I delivered Meranda, and was told that they have temporarily stopped treating children, due to the rise of Swine Flu. What the hell? Isn't it supposed to be a ‘caring’ Mum and Children Hospital??
They recommend another hospital at Wangjing, which also has ‘temporairily stopped treating children’.
In the end, we turned to good old local hospital at Ritan at noon time for the medical vaccination.
It really breaks my heart when poor boy cries of unbearable pain at the throat. He does not want to eat or drink , let alone taking medicine.
With the rise of H1N1 and HFM, I really got worried. It is common for kids to have fever, but above 40 degrees is NOT acceptable. The few hours of waiting at home seems ages. I can’t accompany my poor boy to the hospital, cos Meranda is still small. I just got to wait and pray hard that nothing goes wrong..I cried while feeding Meranda with congee... “Mei mei, gor gor will be ok …”I don’t want anything to happen to lele..
Hours passed, and finally they were back at 8pm+..His fever has subsided.
Today, he got better but still need to go for his regular medicine and check up.
I’m grateful that LeLe is showing improvement
When kids turn sick, sometimes it is better to rely on local hospitals. They don’t provide nice ambience, you got to stand and wait for at least 3 hours , and the doctor treats the patient like ‘just one of the hundreds of patients’ they treat everyday. But their medicine always works. It is better than those ‘expatriate’s hospital’ which charge hundreds for ‘consultation fees’ and offer u nothing but OTC medicine.
