Trophy Wife

Gingerblossoms and I had lunch that day. We were talking about the topic of Trophy Wife.

What is a Trophy Wife? Here are what we have concluded(different from the definitions from Jan09 Her World mag)

1) A wife who is well-groomed, pretty, slim, have flawlesss skin
2) A mother, preferably 2 kids
3) Altough she is a mother, she has no excuse to gain weight and lost her prepregnancy figure. She exercises regularly(esp yoga) to maintain her figure
4) Knows how to cook, bake pastries. As the saying goes, the way to gain a man's heart is through his stomach
5) Keep the house spick and span(she did it herself, not just gives commands to the maid)
6) She has to be a domestic godess , yet she must have a career, so that she can help shoulder the family finances
7) Although she has a career, she must always remember that family comes first.
8) Dedicated mother. Teach the children well manners, and make sure that children are well educated to enter into prestige schools
9) Supportive of husband's career

the list goes on...

Is there really a Trophy Wife out there? I have not come across someone who is really so capable to handle all...

While I secretly hope to become one someday, I realistically know I'm not now and am enjoying just being a normal wife ;)

kiasu parents..

I was talking to 2 sets of SGP SAHM mums. After the conversation, I really wonder have i shortchanged my lele for the past years..

It's well known that SGP mums are kiausu mums. Some are willing to spend S$1000 on Glenn Doman Flashcards to teach their children since birth. Also, there is this famous St. James Kindergarten. My friend's son was under 41st place on the waiting list and after one year, he moved up to 29th. Another one enrolled her daughter immediately after she was born...and they start planning to do 'volunteer work' to ensure their kids get into 'branded' primary schools... I think ours will end up in neighbourhood unpopular schools, cos parents can't possibly fly down from china to SGP to do volunteer work right?

During this one month, LeLe attended some half-day education at Tulip montessori. Kids at his age already start to write A-Z , and Lele still has not started yet!! Although I often received compliments that LeLe is adorable and well-behaved, but I feel that his education needs improvement.

Now that I'm not working, I better start to do more for my kids. I bought a book - Rules of Parenting by Richard Templar, and shall equip myself with more parenting knowledge.

I shall also start teaching LeLe how to write A-Z, and start flashing Flashcards to Meranda.Hopefully my efforts get paid off someday.

Back to Beijing

I'm back to Beijing. After 1 month long break in SGP. It's good to catch up with family and friends. My parents are enjoying their moments helping to take care of the 2 kids. It's a nice feeling to feel loved and spoilt by mum's cooking. ..and i get to see my niece! She is very chubby and adorable, 2 weeks older than meranda and weighs 2 kg more! (She is 9.5kg, mine is 7.5kg) I'm also glad to see my friends happily married, employed, pregnant..

But it's sad to see that SGP is in a bad economy. Retrenchments everywhere, Govt thinking of measures to help the poor and needy, Sales everywhere(I should be happy about sales rite? yet, i feel so guilty spending $$, that I only bought a 50% Bossini jeans, a white shirt and 3 pairs of dirt-cheap below S$20 shoes) .
It's sad to feel so stressed living there, over job security, high living standard, declining property values etc.. goodness, I really wonder will i ever go back to SGP one day, since i'm so used to life here now..
Anyway, enough said..here are the pictures taken during this 1 month...

We left our 2 kids(without guilt) to the doting grandparents, to celebrate V-day at Bintan Club Med. It is really a good break to relax and suntan by the beach.
